Dan + Marissa | Salve Regina Wedding

Marissa & Dan are probably the most genuine, sweet and kind couple I have met in a long, long time. They were the dream bride & groom to work with and I was so honored to be a part of their beautiful Salve Regina Wedding.

These two love birds have an all-American story. They met in college at Salve Regina University in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island. After a few years of dating throughout college and after graduation, Dan & Marissa moved to Washington, DC together. On one of their trips back to Rhode Island, Dan proposed to Marissa in Providence at one of their favorite getaway spots.  Despite Dan's nerves, Marissa immediately said YES!

It was a beautiful Saturday in July for this couple's sweet nuptials. I spent some time with both the bride and groom and their wedding party before we headed off to the Salve Regina chapel. Dan was relaxed and cracking jokes as we got through a few photos with his family and friends at his childhood home. His mother is just the absolute sweetest!

When I arrived at the Atlantic Beach Club to meet with Marissa and her family and the bridal party, the room was filled with excitement and the typical jitters. Marissa was calm and collected though…and GORGEOUS! She was truly one of the most beautiful brides - both inside and out! And she and her bridesmaids had on some girly silk robes that were adorable! We had to capture some shots before they got into their dresses.

Once the dress, shoes and earrings were on, we made a dash for the church! A traditional Catholic mass was held at Salve Regina University's Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. An intimate and gorgeous chapel with high ceilings, beautiful archways and flowing light, this place for the perfect place for these 2 Salve grads to tie the knot.

If you've never visited Salve Regina, you must go! The grounds of this university are stunning and one of the most picturesque Newport Mansions, Ochre Court, is home to the university. Not only did Dan & Marissa attend the university, but Dan's mother is in the Office of University Relations IN Ochre Court! So it only made sense to get the family formals done with Ochre Court as the backdrop. And boy were these families fun!!

Next we were off to the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, Rhode Island for the reception. We snuck in a few bridal party photos before the cocktail hour - I loved all the little nautical details they had. The navy & white color scheme and the boy's anchor socks.

And then there were the Couple Portraits…have you ever seen a couple more in love?? Seriously. These turned out to be some of my favorite from our little session together. These two were total naturals in front of the camera as well. And the grounds of Glen Manor House are just stunning, no matter the spot!

The rest of the night was meant for a party! We watched the sun go down for the cocktail hour, then everyone sat for a sit down dinner served by Emery's Catering. The mother/son and father/daughter dances followed and were absolutely touching. Mad Hatter Bakery in Newport make a perfectly nautical and simple wedding cake, adorned with seasonal fresh hydrangeas. And once that cake was cute, the dance floor was open and the tunes were flowing!

The night could not have been more beautiful!! Congrats to Marissa & Dan on their Salve Regina Wedding. What a beautiful occasion for a beautiful couple. Wishing these two all the happiness in the world.
