I love hearing the love stories of my brides & grooms…each of them are unique, sweet, and tell such a beautiful story of two people coming together to share life. In August I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Missy & Grady's Glen Manor House Wedding and being a part of their perfect love story.
Do you remember what you were like in 6th grade?? Pimply, awkward, and starting to realize the opposite sex no longer has cooties, that's what comes to my mind. But for Missy & Grady, it was the start of their long winded relationship and the start of their future together. They met in 6th grade and "dated" off and on for years, always staying in touch, until they started seriously dating in 2011. Fast forward to 2014 and their engagement in Palm Beach, Florida. Missy was completely surprised by the proposal - it was down by the Palm Beach Marina - they were just walking the docks and chatting when Grady was down on one knee. Absolute perfection.
And so was their wedding day - absolute perfection! The ceremony and reception were both held at Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. The house and grounds of this venue are absolutely stunning. The history is amazing too - completed in 1923, this French chateau is set on the banks of the Sakonnet River and was used as a private estate until 1959 when it became a Catholic school before becoming part of the Portsmouth Historical Society. The caretakers have done an incredible job preserving the beauty and timelessness of the estate.
As you can imagine, photographing the bride getting ready with her bridal party in this elegant estate was picturesque. The tall ceilings and endless windows allow for so much natural light that I crave!
The girls scene was definitely more laid back and easy going…very much Missy's personality. Once I met up with the boys I realized they were going to be a bit more energetic! Such a great balance for this couple. Grady chose three of his best friends to be his "Best Men". These guys are super close so it was great to spend some time with them and try to capture their strong friendship. We walked around the beautiful grounds of Glen Manor House then ended up by the water overlooking the Sakonnet River. I could not get enough of Grady's snazzy jacket - how fun is that!? It definitely showed his confident and gregarious personality.
I finished up photographing the guys and it was time for Missy & Grady to hit the aisle and become husband and wife! The setting was elegant and simple - overlooking the Sakonnet River with rows of white chairs and summer hydrangea arrangements. Beautiful wooden fans adorned each seat for this hot August afternoon. This Glen Manor House wedding ceremony was simply stunning!
They did it - Missy & Grady said "I DO" and became Mr. & Mrs. We celebrated and toasted then breezed through family portraits and bridal party portraits in the Glen Manor House gardens. Missy & Grady and I then headed down the lawn to the dock for some sunset shots. The light was dreamy, the bride & groom so in love, and the black & whites on the dock make me swoon.
Missy and Grady's reception was held in the ballroom of Glen Manor House. All the details were to perfection. Little Shore Soap favors, a bottle of Crown Royal honoring the groom's late father, a late night cigar bar, dancing and delicious food. It was a PARTY and so so much fun with these lovely people.
Wishing all the best to Missy & Grady as they embark on their incredible journey of marriage!! May they always feel as in love as they did on this day.
