Discovering a mutual love for traveling, they have traveled the world together but their favorite place of all is Newport, Rhode Island! So it seemed only fitting after their Miami engagement to choose Newport as their Newport New Year's Eve wedding location!

As many of us New Englanders know, the weather in Newport (and all of New England!) can be incredibly unpredictable. Especially in the winter months. And December 31, 2017 was no different. Picture snow on the ground and temps in the single digits with that bitter Newport wind. Determined to get those classic Newport photos, Andrew, Kait and their bridal party were absolute rock stars jumping out of 80 degree cars for 3 minutes of photos in front of Bowen's Wharf, Trinity Church and the Pell Bridge before jumping back in cars to warm up almost frostbitten toes and fingers! Seriously, those are some rock star friends!!

Check out their nautically inspired, Newport New Year's Eve Wedding!

Erika + Charles | Waterfront Wedding in Jamestown, RI I am finally emerging from the depths of wedding season and couldn't wait any longer to share Erika & Charles's romantic, rustic-chic wedding in Jamestown, RI!  Erika and Charles reached out to me last year and were so excited to plan their wedding at her uncle's property, Dragonline Studio. This location is absolutely stunning with its 360 degree views of Narragansett Bay and Newport - you really can't beat the view! Erika's vision was to make their wedding a fun party - one in which all their friends and family could truly celebrate and let loose at this special location!

Their waterfront romantic wedding featured hues of blush pinks and whites with plenty of greenery, chandeliers and gold accents. The studio and surrounding areas also gave it that rustic, natural warmth and unique vibe. Erika & Charles tied the knot under a beautiful arbor overlooking Narragansett Bay, with sailboats sailing in and out of the channel. It was picture perfect. The celebration continued under the tent with a 6 piece band, a dramatic bouquet toss and mishap (see below), and plenty of dancing for everyone!

Congratulations to Erika & Charles - wishing them many, many years of making each other laugh!

Kelsey + Nick | Glen Manor House Wedding rainbow for good luck for the bride and groom I have been itching to share Kelsey and Nick's dreamy Glen Manor House Wedding on the blog this week! Not only is Glen Manor House my favorite venue to photograph (cue the picturesque garden, sweeping landscape, killer sunsets off the dock and romantic estate), but this couple made it even more memorable.

Meet Kelsey & Nick! These two have a pretty sweet love story. They actually went to the same high school, but didn't hit it off until after college when they ran into each other while working at Newport Hospital. After a few Instagram messages exchanged, a first date followed and the next thing you know Nick is proposing on the slopes at Sugarloaf Mountain in the most romantic of settings.

Kelsey and Nick are one of those couples who are always smiling and sharing their joy of life with others. As an obstetric nurse and police officer, Kelsey and Nick are nurturers, protectors, and just lovely people to get to know. It was an absolute honor and joy to capture their special day and get to know their families and friends.

Their Glen Manor House wedding was such a reflection of the two of them. Family and friends were at the center, followed by all the pretty details - custom coozies, gorgeous peony bouquets, family heirloom touches, and custom corn hole boards for their home state of Rhode Island and current state of North Carolina. We also encountered just about every weather situation possible - sun, rain, thunder, and finally a rainbow (a sign of something good!) and these two just rolled with it from the start.

Congratulations Kelsey & Nick! May you always make each other smile as much as you did on your wedding day!

Caitlin + Joe | Newport Engagement Session ocean drive newport, rhode island Both Rhode Island natives, Caitlin and Joe met and started dating over 10 years ago while they were in high school! I love these stories to pieces because honestly I'm always impressed that people can make it through so many of life's trickiest (and most awkward!) years together and come out on the other side still in love with each other. These two are no exception:)

Being from Rhode Island, Caitlin and Joe have spent a good amount of time in Newport, so it was an easy choice for the location of their engagement session! We spent last Sunday afternoon walking around Bannister's Wharf, sneaking on the docks as the tourist boats passed by, and grabbing a table at The Coffee Grinder to get some super cute shots of this picturesque location. As the sun started to set, we hopped in the car and got to Ocean Drive right in time for that dreamy, golden light at two of my favorite spots.

Sarah + Ryan | Harbor Lights Wedding AH! It's hard to believe that its been a little over a week since Sarah & Ryan tied the knot during a tear-filled ceremony and reception at their Harbor Lights Marina & Golf Club wedding!  It was a beautiful spring day from the time I entered the NYLO hotel for "getting ready photos" all the way up to sunset photos overlooking the marina. Every detail was to perfection with a hydrangea blue, peach and cream color scheme. They thought of it all - sunglasses for all the guests, a trolley for the wedding party, driving range practice for all those golf enthusiasts, a photo booth, and late-night snacks for those out on the dance floor. I think my favorite part were the Matron of Honor and Best Man's toasts - I stood there with misty eyes as they poured their hearts out and spoke of what true friends and siblings Sarah & Ryan were. It was a true honor to be a part of this sweet couple's first day as Mr. & Mrs! Congratulations Sarah & Ryan!!

Kait + Andrew | Newport Engagement Session fort adams sunset engagement session

This past Sunday I met Kait & Andrew at Third Beach to kick off their Newport Engagement Session! When we scheduled the session for mid-April I was a bit nervous - i.e. April showers bring May flowers! - but as I pulled into the parking lot, the breeze was blowing, the sun was out, and the birds were chirping. We couldn't have asked for much more, regardless of the season. After all, this is New England!

As we walked along the beach I got to know Kait & Andrew (my favorite part of engagement sessions - learning people's stories!). These two are HIGH SCHOOL sweethearts! And honestly, that is super impressive and cute to me. I remember who I was in high school and A LOT has changed since I find it so cool that Kait & Andrew have weathered a lot of different life stages and remained in love with each other!

They love Newport and visit often from CT which is why they chose to do a Newport Engagement Session. Kait & Andrew were adorable in their boat shoes and striped top strolling down Third Beach! I love the nautical flair and casualness of this session. These two were nervous in front of the camera at first, but they soon realized how to be themselves and have FUN with it!

As the sun started to set at Third Beach, we raced over to Fort Adams for some more formal shots and breathtaking views of the Newport Pell Bridge at sunset. It was cool by this point but Kait rocked that dress and we grabbed some great shots before the sun set over the sea.

I think Kait & Andrew already have the foundation for a strong marriage - an understanding of compromises, respect for one another, and the recipe for how to make each other laugh! I think that was clear in these images from their Newport Engagement Session!

Can't wait for December 31, 2017 in Newport!

Nicole + Brian | Colt State Park Maternity Session

I was lucky enough to photograph Nicole and Brian's beautiful Providence Public Library wedding this past November. And on Sunday I got to photograph them as glowing parents to be!! Nicole & Brian will welcome a baby girl in May just as Nicole graduates from grad school in West Virginia!

Growing up in the Rhode Island & Massachusetts area, Nicole and Brian have always been drawn to Colt State Park in Bristol, so it was an easy choice for their maternity session. Colt State Park is often referred to as the 'gem' of the State Parks System as it looks across Narragansett Bay with four miles of biking trails, manicured lawns, picnic areas, and the popular open air Chapel-By-The-Sea. It was a balmy 36 degrees on Sunday afternoon, and Nicole & Brian braved the cold like champs. We had beautiful, soft light to work with and spent an hour walking through the tree lined paths with stops at the historic rock walls and marshland.

Here are some of my favorites from their Maternity Session at Colt State Park...

So excited to meet Nicole & Brian's sweet baby girl when they move back to the area this coming summer!

Courtney + Heitor | Newport Engagement Session

Meet Courtney & Heitor!

They are getting married in June for a beautiful summer Newport wedding and I could not be more thrilled to be a part of their big day. When they asked me for dates in February for their engagement session, I was a little hesitant. February can either be beautiful with white fluffy snow or just downright ugly with browns and greys galore.  The first date we settled on turned out to be grey and rainy, so I took a quick glimpse at the extended forecast and say blue skies and warm temps for Sunday - jackpot! We met at Prescott Farm in Middletown for the more casual part of the session. This location is one of my all time favorites - lots of variety, a cool windmill, and a unique rustic charm that you can't get in the city by the sea.

I got to know Courtney and Heitor a lot at Prescott Farm and they have a really cute story. They met about 5 years ago on an online dating site, and after a few dates in Newport, they were official! After a year or so of dating, Courtney moved to Heitor's town of New Bedford where he has been restoring his house for 6 years! This couple is super talented and extremely generous of their time. Courtney works outside of Boston as a Project Manager and has been involved in the Special Olympics and youth sports teams as a volunteer. Heitor designs and hand stitches custom leather bags, and has been very busy over the last 6 years rebuilding and restoring his "fixer upper" in New Bedford. They are one hardworking, humble & genuine couple!

How cute were these two at Prescott Farm??

About an hour before sunset we left Prescott Farm and made our way into Newport for what turned out to be a beautiful sunset on the water at Bannister's Wharf. Wow, not many February evenings look like this and we were all so grateful for the warmth and golden hour of light!

Congratulations to Courtney & Heitor! Can't wait for June 16, 2017!!

Bonnie + Erik | Mount Hope Farm Wedding Rustic Mount Hope Farm Wedding

I met Bonnie on a cold February morning at Bristol Bagel Works to discuss wedding plans and photography dreams. Within about 10 minutes I think we both knew that we were a great match. We certainly had a LOT to talk about - house renovation stories, puppies, and coffee - all things we could most certainly talk about for hours if given the chance. When I met Erik for the first time at their Fort Adams engagement shoot, I totally understand why these two were getting married. They exude happiness. Pure, unfiltered happiness with one another and the life they've created together. They are not afraid to be silly, to have fun, to take on big challenges, or to push one another.

It was an absolute joy and honor to get to know this sweet couple and capture their story. Their Mount Hope Farm wedding was just beautiful. Crisp October weather coupled with vibrant reds and the rustic vibe from the barn and property - it was a perfect way to celebrate Bonnie & Erik.

I met with Bonnie & Erik before their ceremony for an emotional "First Look" down by the pond on the Mount Hope Farm property. These two were beside themselves - I hadn't seen a couple this excited all summer! We spent some time walking amongst the winding pathways and rolling fields before heading back to the gardens for the ceremony. The intimate ceremony took place within Mount Hope Farm's stone lined gardens next to the Governor Bradford House. My favorite part by far were the couple's personalized wedding vows and fun poems/readings.

The Cocktail Hour took place in the gardens with the "Potting Shed" serving as the bar. It was a magical fall night as guests stood sharing signature cocktails,  oysters and passed hors d'oeuvres and lawn games. The guests were led into the "Barn" for dinner and dancing right as the fog rolled in! It was certainly a night to remember!

Jordana + Robert | Glen Manor House Glen Manor House wedding

I've been wanting to share this wedding for a LONG time and finally put the words to "paper" and the images up on this screen!

I met Jordana and Robert for the first time the day before their wedding day at Glen Manor House. I always get a bit nervous when this happens, but when I met Jordana and Robert, I felt as if they were old friends from my childhood, and I knew instantly we would have a fun day working together!

Their love story is one of those make one decision and it changes your whole life kind of love stories. As it turns out, Jordana and Robert met accidentally a few times over the course of a few years. The timing wasn't right and neither one thought much of each meeting until the 3rd time they saw each other. That 3rd time was the charm - they started dating soon after when they both returned home to New Orleans!  Much to Jordana's surprise, Robert proposed on top of a mountain in Colorado just a few short years later. Their love story is most certainly one of fate.

Having grown up in Rhode Island, Jordana envisioned getting married back home in little Rhody and chose the gorgeous Glen Manor House for her July 4th wedding. Jordana's mother is a talented caterer hear in Rhode Island and she orchestrated the whole event beautifully. The decor was classic and elegant with pops of nautical flair. Captain's hats, anchors, personalized soda bottles, and a "SS Richmond" banner were some of my favorites.  It could not have been a more beautiful venue or wedding celebration for this sweet couple!

Lauren + Charlie | Providence Art Club Wedding bride and groom walk hand in hand down the streets of Providence In my former life, I used to work as a boat captain in the Caribbean and Nantucket, and that's how I met my husband, and ultimately, met Charlie! Charlie is a boat captain too and he took over my husband's position as Captain aboard the most beautiful, classic yacht named Spartan. Over the years I've gotten to know Charlie and aside from his incredible passion for all things outdoors - mountain biking, surfing, sailing - I've always loved Charlie's enthusiasm for life, his genuine and giving personality, and his positive attitude. So when I met Lauren - BEAUTIFUL, smart, down-to-earth, and spunky, I knew Charlie had found "the one". And sure enough, Charlie and Lauren got engaged this past winter on Lauren's 25th birthday in their new home! When they asked me to be their wedding photographer, I could not have been more honored or excited to capture their love and marriage to one another.

One of the reasons I was SO excited to photograph Charlie & Lauren's wedding (aside from loving to photograph friends!!), was the venue. Holy Moly - the Providence Art Club is one of the best kept secrets in the wedding industry. Charlie's family has been members of the Club for generations, and it made perfect sense for he and Lauren to choose this eclectic, intimate location for both their ceremony and reception. Located right in downtown Providence, the Providence Art Club was established in 1880 to stimulate the appreciation of art in the community. It is an absolute gem - surrounded by historic homes, the First Baptist Church, and the campus of RISD. Inside are tons of rooms, some old and some new, but ALL the walls are covered in beautiful artwork - some amateur and some well known artists.

The ceremony was held outdoors in the little courtyard and the flowers by Busy Bee Florist were incredible! They truly set the stage for an intimate and special ceremony. Following the romantic ceremony, guests headed inside to the Main Gallery for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and live jazz. It was such a neat setting, being surrounded by a vast array of artwork and tall ceilings. The guests were then ushered into another gallery for an extensive buffet and a live band with plenty of dancing!

I think what I loved most about Charlie & Lauren's wedding day, was that their focus on their marriage. They tried their best to avoid the pomp and circumstance, and just enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family, and sharing in the moments together that made the day so special. I don't know that I've ever seen Charlie look so completely happy, nor Lauren so radiant and timeless. It was truly a joy and honor to share in their celebration!

Lucinda + Chris | Four Oaks Country Club Bride & Groom share a moment on the greens Lucinda and Chris met in Boston while working downtown at the Macy's store. Lucinda was hesitant in pursuing a relationship at work, but Chris's persistence finally paid off! After a few years of dating and a romantic proposal along the Merrimack River, Lucinda and Chris started planning their dream wedding at Four Oaks Country Club. I had the honor and privilege of photographing their wedding (as well as their Beacon Hill Engagement Session) this past June and every detail was to perfection.

Boston Globe wedding announcement I got to know Lucinda and Chris throughout the year and came to realize that these two complemented each other so well. Chris is quiet, but has a sarcastic side, and is a huge sports fan. Lucinda is bubbly and personable to a T. She is also an incredibly talented and passionate seamstress. Her Blog Sew Wrong (and contributor to Broke Ass Bride) showcases her latest work and beautiful pieces she's made for her wardrobe. Not only that, but Lucinda MADE her very own wedding gown. As you can imagine, I was blown away when I showed up at the bridal suite to photograph she and her bridesmaids.

We found a shady (it was SUPER hot and humid for early June!) spot under the Country Club's red barn and snagged some great shots as Lucinda & Chris saw each other for the first time. I think Chris was blown away by Lucinda, especially the gown she had worked so hard on!

Between the light and Lucinda's infectious smile, these photos are some of my favorite from this couple's sweet day. Not to mention the fact that they both looked extremely happy! It's like they got married or something:)

Barbara + Matt | Herreshoff Marine Museum Wedding Herreshoff Marine Museum wedding photos

Barbara & Matt tied the knot this past June in a beautiful seaside wedding at St. Mary's of the Bay and the Herreshoff Marine Museum. Despite the rainy day, Barbara and Matt were celebrated fully by friends and family with a beautiful church ceremony, Del's Lemonade Truck, Polish band, and nautical reception.

When I first met Barbara & Matt they informed me that their wedding was going to be a PARTY! Coming from a large Polish family, Barbara promised me that there would be LOTS of dancing and a great Polish band. Having never been to a Polish wedding, I had no idea what to expect. But let me tell you, it was most definitely a PARTY. I was so incredibly impressed with the dancing - no matter the age, all the wedding guests were on that dance floor from 7pm until 11pm!!

Barbara & Matt met on eHarmony in 2013 and instantly fell in love with each other, despite their sports team rivalries! Barbara owns her own physical therapy practice and Matt is the co-owner of 4 Amazing Athletes, an Educational Sports Program for kids! They are both incredibly passionate and humble about their successful careers, easy-going and fun to be around, and huge sports fans! I had such a fun time getting to know both Barbara & Matt first at their engagement session and at their wedding.

Janet + Richard | Rhode Island Country Club Wedding Rhode Island Country Club wedding

Janet and Richard were not my typical bride and groom. Janet is 83 years old - spunky, timeless, kind, and passionately in love with Richard. She is a widow, mother of five boys, friend, and retired event planner.  She is just oh so lovely. Oh, and last month she actually turned 84! Richard is a total sweetheart - head over heels for Janet - father of a beautiful daughter, and a talented architect who designed the controversial Nantucket Boat Basin back in the 80s. Dating for 10 years, Janet and Richard decided to make their love official and tie the knot this past Memorial Day weekend at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, Rhode Island. I had the absolute pleasure and joy of capturing their special day.

84 year old bride and her 75 year old groom I have to say that this Rhode Island Country Club Wedding was one of my favorites of the summer. It was all about Richard and Janet and their families love for them. It was simple, yet elegant, and these two are completely down to earth. Plus, they love to party! As their kid's said in their toasts, these two have a more exciting and busy social life than most young people!

They said their "I do's" overlooking the water under a tall oak tree at Rhode Island Country Club. It could not have been a more beautiful day for the occasion - blue skies, bright sun, and warm temps.

1st Birthday Portraits | Jamestown, RI Memorial Day weekend was a busy one and had me photographing just about every age group! In two short days I photographed an 83 year old bride, a 90th birthday party, and a 1st birthday party! Talk about contrast:)

1st birthday photos of cousins

Meet Rosalie & Declan. They are 1st cousins born just 4 days apart and just the cutest little babies. At just 1 years old, they certainly already have their own little personalities. Rosalie is spunky, yet reserved and very serious at times. She loves her little pink tutu. And already has a fear of men...Declan on the other hand loves country music, hates grass (hence why you will see a blanket in every photo!) and is very happy-go lucky.

I love going out to Jamestown and that Saturday was a bright and sunny one!  Luckily their beautiful property had some nice shaded areas to work with and we were able to catch these two and their families in action.  I'd say the balloons were a big hit!

Anna + Jeff | Block Island Wedding Black & White images of the bride and groomBride & Groom

I wish you all could meet Anna and Jeff.  They are just lovely, both as individuals and as a couple. Anna is incredibly kind, friendly, and driven - studying to be a pediatrician, I can see that this career path is the perfect fit for her personality.  Jeff is compassionate, funny, and family focused, and is passionate about following his dream to become a surgeon! Spending time with Anna & Jeff and getting to know them and their families on their wedding day was an absolute joy. Together they make the perfect team and it showed in all the people who traveled FAR to celebrate their love and commitment to one another out on Block Island!

When Anna contacted me a year ago to discuss her Block Island wedding, I was so thrilled to get the chance to travel out to Block Island for a destination wedding. Just 12 miles off the coast of Rhode Island, a short ferry ride brings you to this little island that is surrounded by natural landscape with stone wall-lined rolling hills, breathtaking bluffs, and pristine beaches. There are tons of outdoor activities, dining experiences, art & music. More than 43 percent of the island is preserved and walking or biking is a great way to take in the rolling hills, farmland, and beaches. This tiny island is a dream, especially for a photographer!

Just a short walk up the hill from the ferry dock, the Rose Farm Inn was the setting for Anna & Jeff's wedding. Set on 20 acres of farmland, the Rose Farm Inn was  such a peaceful, and natural setting only a short walk from town. The forecast was overcast, but oh how I love that soft, grey light!

I arrived early in the afternoon to capture some getting ready moments with Anna and her bridesmaids, as well as Jeff and his groomsmen. It was clear to see how loved these two are with 10 bridesmaids and groomsmen on each side!! Some of these photos of Anna and her bridesmaids on the large front porch and adjacent lawn are just my favorite. Such a picturesque scene and feeling of Block Island - peaceful, serene and surrounded by nature.

What I loved most about Jeff and his groomsmen was the warmth and friendliness. It made my job easy!
Jeff's family was a large part of his wedding too. His sister was his Best Woman and his half-brother was a groomsmen, along with his nephews as ring bearers. You could tell that family, along with his friends, was and is the most important thing in Jeff's life!

Baby Declan | Newborn Photo Session Introducing Baby Declan!

Two weeks ago I got to meet the incredibly handsome and sweet Declan at home with his parents. At just 2 weeks old, this little guy has already stolen his parent's hearts. Both teachers in Providence, Declan's parents have already had the role as foster parents to a high school boy with autism. These two opened up their homes to this boy and have been a wonderful presence in his life. Now they are welcoming up their home to Baby Declan!

I was swooning over Declan's nautical nursery. As a sailor, I loved this green room with nautical accents. The compass around the ceiling light was one of my favorite parts! I think Baby Declan will love it too:)

I don't do Newborn Photo Sessions very often, so this was a real treat for me on a Monday afternoon. My heart melts with the little toes and fingers and the way they curl themselves into a tiny ball. Baby Declan was all about the frog pose and showing us his sapphire blue eyes! So so cute!

The D Family | Prospect Terrace Park, Providence With all this grey, rainy New England weather we've been having, its a wonder that we managed to snag a sunny afternoon for the D family's portraits at Prospect Terrace Park in Providence! But we did and we got a beautiful spring, Saturday afternoon with blossoming cherry trees, fierce bright grass, and that magical afternoon light.

Tim, Nisha and little Jack are just the sweetest family, and not surprisingly so. Tim's brother and sister-in-law, Simon & Alex, are some of my great friends and also the sweetest - it must run in the family! When Nisha told Alex they hadn't had any family photos taken since Jack was born, Alex gave her my number and we decided on an early spring family session in their hometown of Providence. Simple, easy, and "close to home" was the objective, so naturally Prospect Terrace Park was the first choice. This cute little park offers a panoramic view of downtown Providence along with beautiful trees and sprawling grass. I love the balance between urban and rural in this location. I also love this old, historic area of Providence - so quaint and charming.

Most of our hour together was spent playing with 2 year old Jack.  This boy is simply adorable! So full of energy and life - I had the best time with him. We rolled in the grass, pointed to the State House, kicked his favorite soccer ball and explored this quaint park. He is going to be a heart breaker one day...

Barbara + Matt | Newport Engagement Session Yesterday's weather reminded me a lot of Barbara and Matt's Newport Engagement Session. Gray and rainy in the morning, followed by a lift in the skies and a short evening window to get outside! These two were determined to make this September day work - hair and makeup was done, the location was chosen, and the weather would just have to hold up! The rain literally stopped 15 minutes before we started the session on Ocean Drive in Newport. It was that beautiful light gray sky with soft light.  And boy was I grateful!

Barbara and Matt are one of those couples who just like to have a lot of fun with each other. They met each other through an online dating site and certainly are the perfect match. Matt hails from Buffalo, New York and works in the business world as a product manager with a payment cycle management firm. Barbara on the other hand is from western Massachusetts and is a managing partner at a physical therapy firm. Both very professional, driven, and successful people! They got engaged in April 2015 right on the water and have been busy planning a big wedding for their big Polish families ever since. It's hard to believe that their wedding is just 2 months away!!

When we were choosing the location for their engagement session, I wanted to focus on two of the best natural locations in Newport I know - Ocean Drive and Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown, RI. Ocean Drive is one of my favorites simply because there are so many nooks and crannies to tuck into. Despite all the enormous mansions, there are actually quite a few small beaches, pathways, and marshes that are just so picturesque. Not to mention, the gray light really added to that classic New England look.

Ocean Drive Engagement Session bride and groom to be portraits Ocean Drive engagement portraits classic gray new england engagement marsh pathway in newport, rhode island  If you haven't been to Sweet Berry Farm yet, I suggest getting over there ASAP! This sweet little farm is just a few miles from the beaches of Newport and has 100 acres of preserved farm land. They offer a great selection of fruits, vegetables and cheeses, as well as pick-your-own seasons and a cafe with delicious treats. The fall is one of my favorite times to go to Sweet Berry because of the apple orchards and the towering sunflowers. It is just gorgeous! I was so excited to share this special spot with Barbara and Matt for their fall engagement session. I love the way the light and flowers made the whole atmosphere seem rustic and romantic. apple orchard engagement photos

apple with engagement ring rustic engagement session in a flower field bride to be smelling the flowers sunflowers and cute couple And then we got into the heart of it all - SPORTS! These two are huge sports fans…and rivals!! Both in hockey and in football this house is divided! And we have the photos to prove it...

Moose | Dog Portrait Photography It is rare these days that I edit AND display my personal photography, so I thought I'd share some of the work I've been doing with my new Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, "Moose".

I never thought I'd be that person who spent hours thinking up ways to photograph my dog, let alone set up an in-home studio so that I could do some dog portrait photography! Never in a million years. I wasn't even a pet person until 2 months ago. In fact, the only pet I ever had was a hermit crab named "Rainbow" who died in about 3 days. My husband had to convince me to get a dog and persuaded me that I would love this dog like a child. I had my doubts...

BUT, I am crazy about our new puppy "Moose" and am always wanting to capture his personality, the seasons, and just how fast he is growing. We got "Moosie Moose" on Valentines Day at 10 pounds - an 8 week old fur ball as sweet as could be. Now, nearly 2 months later, he weighs 30 pounds and has stolen our hearts. He is growing like a weed, loves to eat all dirt and mulch, hates walks, and is a total Mama's boy!

AC Grayling repurposed tables

I've been keeping my camera in hand for all the small moments around the house or on our attempted walks. But I also bought an in-home studio system that I've set up from time to time in our living room. The four big windows in this room provide such soft, wonderful natural light and I could stay busy in there for hours photographing just about anything! "Moose" has realized quite quickly that these portrait sessions will happen every 2 weeks or so and he is NOT loving them. I have to beg my husband to help me trick him into standing on that seamless paper and looking all cute for some salmon treats. It's quite the process, but the results are so so worth it (although "Moosie" might disagree…).

We get out and about too and these are some of my favorite moments. Unstaged. Natural light. Playful. Exploring. In the moment. This week's snow storm provided one of those perfect moments to capture!

AC Grayling repurposed tables "Moose" will probably be one of the most photographed dogs around, but I can't stand his cuteness and want to capture it all! I think I'll add Dog Portrait Photography to my business:)
